In fourth grade, track 1 is departmentalized. Your child has a homeroom teacher but will spend half the day with the other track 1 teacher. Mrs. Schmedding teaches math, science and social studies. Mrs. Burdette teaches reading, writing, and word work. We work as a team; we consider all of the students ours rather than having our own classes. Please think of your child as having two 4th grade teachers. Please communicate with both of us. If you need to email one of us for any reason, even just a simple dismissal change, please email both of us:
Mrs. Burdette: email@example.com
Mrs. Schmedding: firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have not done so already, please take a minute to fill out this Google form. We are creating a database of contact information. Please follow the link below. It should take you less than 5 minutes to fill out! Thank you!
If you use Twitter, please follow our track 1 4th grade account: @TCETrack14th
Also, please sign up for our Remind101 texts. If you sign up, we will occasionally text you reminders of things like picture day, due dates for field trip money, etc.
To join, text: @track14th to 81010 and follow the instructions received.
Updated Daily Schedule:
*This varies slightly as we have 2 specials on Wednesdays and no specials on Thursday.
8:45-9:20 Morning Work
9:20-10:55 First Block (Reading/Writing/Word Study OR Math/Science/Social Studies)
11:45-12:15 Finish First Block
12:15-12:45 Second Block (opposite of previous block)
1:15-1:35 Continue Second Block

Co-room parent needed! Mrs. Schmedding has a volunteer for room parent, but Mrs. Burdette does not officially have one yet. We’d love to have at least 2 room parents to work together for all of track 1 fourth grade, rather than separate classrooms. We operate as 1 big group and plan activities together.
Important Information and Reminders:
Students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle to school each day. We do go outside for recess every day, weather permitting, and it is hot!
Students have homework every night. Their agendas must be signed each night by an adult; this is part of their daily homework. It is your child’s responsibility, not yours, to complete homework. Please help them to become independent and responsible learners by enforcing this procedure at home.
If you have not already purchased your child an agenda ($5) and Reader’s Notebook ($5), please come into the school to do so. They are available for pickup in the front office.
Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any questions or concerns! Thank you for all of your support!
